NOS vs Aged
Our RetroSpec Vintage Correct Parts line is available in both NOS and hand-aged versions, giving you the flexibility to choose the look that best suits your guitar. Whether you prefer the clean, untouched appearance of new-old-stock hardware or the worn-in character of vintage-aged parts, each piece is made with the same attention to detail and commitment to vintage accuracy.
NOS parts are ideal for builders and players who want a crisp, factory-fresh look while still using period-correct materials and construction. Aged parts, on the other hand, are carefully aged by Historic Makeovers to capture the subtle wear, patina, and character found on original vintage components. The goal is not to overdo the aging, but to create a believable, authentic appearance that feels right on a true vintage-style instrument.
Every aged part in the RetroSpec line is done by us in-house as part of our Historic Makeovers process. That means the aging is applied with consistency, care, and a deep respect for vintage correctness. The result is hardware that looks like it belongs on a well-preserved original or expertly restored guitar, with the right balance of realism and refinement.
Whether you choose NOS or aged, you can expect vintage-correct details, quality craftsmanship, and parts designed to complement serious restoration and build projects. The difference comes down to presentation: NOS for a cleaner, untouched look, aged for a more authentic vintage feel.
