We're proud to bring back one of the most visible details on a vintage Les Paul — the RetroSpec Exclusive Series Rhythm/Treble Toggle Switch Ring in Black. Known to collectors as the "poker chip," this small component plays a big role in completing the look of a proper vintage instrument.
Crafted to original 1950s specifications, this ring features the correct profile, proportions, and Rhythm/Treble lettering found on vintage examples — the correct choice for Les Paul Custom builds and any instrument with a black plastics set.
The lettering is gold-filled rather than simply printed flat on the surface. It's a detail that matters over time: on aged rings, the gold softens and wears gradually — the way it does on a real vintage chip — rather than rubbing away all at once. That's part of what gives a proper poker chip its character as the years go by.
For a complete vintage-correct plastic set, it pairs perfectly with our black M69 CAB rings, so the whole guitar comes together cohesively.
Two ways to own them — NOS and Aged.
Choose NOS (New Old Stock) for a clean, correct ring ready to install.
Choose Aged, and each ring is hand-worked in our shop by Historic Makeovers — the same aging craft we bring to our own high-end builds. On aged rings, the amount of visible lettering varies from piece to piece, just as it does on true vintage examples worn by decades of playing. No two are ever alike — the ring you receive carries its own character and can't be reproduced.
This is more than just a label — it's a defining detail that completes the visual identity of a proper vintage build.
Experience the details that define an era — only from RetroSpec.
