We're proud to offer the correct tuning machines found on vintage Gibson guitars from the mid-1950s through the early Burst era — the RetroSpec Exclusive Series Kluson Deluxe Tuners, built to the same visual and functional specification as the originals that left Kalamazoo during Gibson's golden age.
These are the tuners identified by the single vertical "Kluson Deluxe" line on the back of the housing and the single groove around the keystone button. The keystone (tulip-shaped) buttons, single-ring construction, and visible oil lubrication hole are all part of what makes this the correct vintage Kluson configuration. These aren't small details — they're the features that define the tuning machines found on period-correct Gibson instruments.
Each set is built to the proper vintage specification with a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth, accurate tuning. They are supplied as a complete set of six tuners with ferrules and mounting screws, ready for a proper vintage-correct installation.
Two ways to own them — NOS and Aged.
Choose NOS (New Old Stock) and you get the set exactly as it would have left Kalamazoo: clean, correct, and ready to install.
Choose Aged, and the same vintage-correct tuners are taken further. Each Aged set is hand-aged in our shop by Historic Makeovers — the same aging craft we bring to the high-end restorations we're known for. We work every set by hand, one at a time: settling the nickel and warming the buttons the way decades of honest playing would. Nothing is stamped, tumbled in a batch, or rushed. Because each set is treated individually, no two are ever alike — the tuners you receive carry their own character and can't be reproduced.
That's the distinction. NOS gives you correct tuners. Aged gives you those same tuners, hand-aged by Historic Makeovers — one set at a time, no two alike.
Perfect for restorations, conversions, or any player chasing the golden age of tone and craftsmanship.
Experience the details that identify a true vintage Gibson — only from RetroSpec.
