RetroSpec thin ABR-1 adjustment thumb wheels & bridge posts are among the most accurate, vintage-correct reproductions on the market today — made to exact vintage specs and materials: nickel-plated brass, just like the original ABR-1 bridge found on vintage Les Paul Bursts and other Gibsons like the ES-335.
These are not steel. Many modern replacements use steel for durability, but steel lacks the proper weight, tone, and authentic feel of vintage brass. Our thumb wheels and bridge posts are made from genuine nickel-plated brass, matching the original material Gibson used in the 1950s. This gives you the correct density for proper sustain and tone transfer, while the nickel plating provides the classic luster and smooth threading that vintage-correct players expect.
They also feature the correct bevel on the thumb wheels — unlike other reproductions that use a flat or rounded edge. This bevel matches the original vintage design, giving you the proper feel and grip when adjusting your bridge height. It's exactly the kind of small detail that separates a true vintage-correct part from a generic replacement.
Two ways to own them — NOS and Aged.
Choose NOS (New Old Stock) and you get the set clean and correct, ready to install.
Choose Aged, and the same nickel-plated brass is taken further. Each Aged set is hand-aged in our shop by Historic Makeovers — the same aging craft we bring to our own high-end restorations. We work every set by hand, one at a time: settling the nickel and easing the shine the way decades of honest playing would. Nothing is stamped, tumbled in a batch, or rushed. Because each set is treated individually, no two are ever alike — the parts you receive carry their own character and can't be reproduced.
That's the distinction. NOS gives you a correct set. Aged gives you that same set, hand-aged by Historic Makeovers — one at a time, no two alike.
This is more than just a bridge set — it's the material-correct upgrade that brings your ABR-1 bridge closer to true vintage spec.
Experience the details that define an era — only from RetroSpec.
