We’re proud to offer the anchor points for your entire stop tailpiece assembly — the RetroSpec Exclusive Series Solid Steel Tailpiece Studs. Made from genuine steel with period-correct gold plating, these studs match the warm finish found on original Gibson tailpiece studs that ages to a distinctive patina over time.

These's not brass or zinc. Original Gibson studs were steel with nickel plating for the proper weight, strength, and tone transfer. Our studs use solid steel construction with authentic nickel plating, ensuring the correct density and durability your stop tailpiece needs.

We offer two lengths to match your instrument: vintage-spec (1″ thread, correct for pre-CBS-era instruments and vintage Gibson Les Pauls) and historic (7/8″ thread, for Gibson Historic Reissue-spec guitars from 2012 and earlier). Measure your guitar before ordering to ensure the correct fit. Starting in 2013, Gibson began drilling Historic models deeper for vintage-length studs.

Each set includes 2 studs, sold as a complete pair for easy installation.

Choose between NOS (New Old Stock) for a clean vibe, or Aged for that well-loved, road-worn appearance. Perfect for restorations, conversions, or any player chasing the golden age of tone and craftsmanship. Every aged piece is hand-treated, resulting in slight variations that give each one its own unique character.

This is more than just a stud set — it’s the material-correct foundation for a proper vintage stop tailpiece installation.
