These are our PAF-style covers for Gibson-style humbuckers — built with the attention to vintage detail that the originals deserve.

And this isn't only about looks. When Seth Lover designed the original PAF humbucker, the cover was part of the design, not a cosmetic afterthought — the nickel silver acts as a natural high-frequency filter, shaping the smooth, balanced top end of a true covered PAF. Our covers are correctly plated, with no copper flash underneath — the way a cover should be made, and the way many modern reproductions get wrong.

The shape is right, too: correct vintage geometry, flat tops, square edges, and the subtle perimeter curve left by original tooling. It looks and fits right from every angle.

Where these really set themselves apart is the aging. Aging a gold cover convincingly is one of the hardest things to do well — gold shows every step, which leaves no room for shortcuts — and it's something we're genuinely proud of. Ours is done by hand, in several stages, to reproduce the way a real cover wears over decades: the way perspiration and its acidity mark the surface, the way the strings leave their trace across the plating, the way the gold softens and warms unevenly with use. It's some of the most realistic aging on the market, and because each cover is worked one at a time, no two are ever exactly alike. That's the aging of Historic Makeovers — the same work that goes onto the instruments our clients trust us with.
